OX3 recently purchased a new, top-of-the-line fully automated radial taping machine. This new system means rapid turnaround of the highest quality finished products. This high-level machinery will be especially helpful for manufacturers of TO-92's and LED's, as well as distributors who stock these in bulk on their shelves.
All ten winding styles are available. OX3 maintains a significant inventory of materials needed to produce requirements in the tens of millions of components, so orders of any size can be run immediately. For TO-92's this equipment spreads the two outside legs just prior to taping, so forming is addressed. With LED's, we can handle "top-hat" or "bar" type body configurations, of T1, T1-3/4's and rectangular classes. Standard taping configuration is to 2.54mm lead spacing or preformed to 5.08mm. Many different seating-plane heights can be attained, from 16mm up to 25mm as well as custom heights. The new system is able to process up to 12,000 parts per hour and can handle difficult component types, like dipped-film and mylar capacitors. It performs a highly accurate polarity check and is able to immediately detect any non-polar placements and re-orient them prior to placement on the tape.
The system can also handle components from bulk, place parts on reels or ammo-packs, and integrate multiple forming styles. It also contains a straightening tool, which can verify lead length. This is the first in what will be a series of new acquisitions. The new system will enable OX3 to offer faster turnaround on larger jobs, and puts the company in a good position to increase service offerings in the future.
