How long have you been in business?

The Widmayers have been running OX3 since 1972, making it the oldest family-owned semiconductor handling business in the U.S.!

Do you have any helpful hints to make taping easier for me to understand?

  • Did you know that 1,000 divided by the pitch gives you the number of parts per meter of tape?
  • Where Pitch is an odd multiple of 4, its midpoint will always line up with a sprocket hole. Do you know why this is important? Ask for our Technical Sheet #604.
  • You can determine Width, Pitch, Component Type and Carrier from are Glossary Page.
  • Don't forget! Once you've narrowed down your search by A, B and K make sure the rotation angle of the part in the pocket does not exceed 20 degrees.
  • With carrier tapes the critical dimensions are often ""F"" and ""P2"". If these are off it can adversely affect component placement.
  • The Electronics Industry does not allow tapes to be spliced, however to make smaller reels out of one larger one, you can peel back a foot of cover tape, dump out the parts, and reseal. Don't do this for resale !!
  • Have you downloaded our latest pricing guide? Find it under Media Kit at left.

Four carrier tape sources have discontinued their operations this year due to the downturn in our economy. There are now 8 principal sources and each one is represented in our stockroom here at OX3.
It's expensive to hire someone for in-house taping, and to keep so many carrier tapes in stock.
It makes sense in today's slowing economy to outsource to OX3 in order to save manufacturing costs.
We maintain the largest selection of in-stock carrier tapes in the world.
OX3 is 99% on-time with deliveries and its service is guaranteed. Does your current taping supplier guarantee its deliveries to you?

No! We use the latest automated taping systems at OX3 that are guaranteed to improve inspection of the coplanarity on your devices.
