OX3® has custom-fit Kapton® pads for use on surface mount components with irregular topographies. Many taping & reeling requirements arise for hard-to-place electronic components. When typical vacuum-pencil or pick-up heads on assembly equipment have nothing to grab, an OX3® pad may make sense. These pads are adhesive-backed and come in any variety of shapes and sizes.
One customer named Scott wrote to ask for our advice: “We have some three-leaded thru-hole connectors that need pick and place pads added before taping & reeling. We have a few samples of the component, with the simple, little pads added. But, when I called the manufacturer directly, they acted as if I have just seen Big Foot, (LOL). Yes, Scott, we have a well-placed idea! OX3’s® plastic Kapton® pick ‘n place pads are ideal for picking up connectors that have rugged top-side terrains or little area for placement. The pad will act as an integral part of the device and is easily removed after the part has been populated onto the circuit board.
